Overview
An Outreach Worker is responsible for engaging with the community, connecting individuals to essential resources, and raising awareness about social programs. They play a key role in ensuring underserved populations receive the support they need.
Responsibilities
- Community Engagement: Build relationships with local organizations, individuals, and stakeholders to promote services.
- Event Coordination: Organize workshops, training sessions, and information events.
- Resource Connection: Link community members to essential services such as healthcare, employment assistance, and housing support.
- Advocacy & Education: Raise awareness about issues affecting the community and provide support.
- Data Collection & Reporting: Track outreach efforts and report program impact.
- Social Media & Communication: Assist in promoting programs through digital and community channels.
Qualifications
- Education: A high school diploma is often required; a bachelor’s degree in social work, public health, communications, or a related field is preferred.
- Experience: 1-5 years of experience in community outreach, social services, or advocacy work.
- Communication Skills: Ability to engage with diverse communities and build strong relationships.
- Public Speaking & Community Engagement: Comfort speaking to groups and leading outreach events.
- Problem-Solving & Adaptability: Ability to handle challenges and tailor outreach efforts to different populations.
Organizational Skills: Experience with event planning, coordinating services, and managing documentation.
